@SgtBilko76 SgtBilko76 released this 20 Oct 15:51

Changes since v0.1.1-beta

  • Sharper flight: the 3D space is now drawn at a much higher resolution (1792x1880 per eye instead of 872x914 on a stock Quest 3), no need for Quest Games Optimizer any more. If you set a resolution for OpenXW VR in Quest Games Optimizer, set it back to default.

Beta of OpenXW VR: Star Wars: X-Wing running natively on Meta Quest 3 and PICO, built on OpenXW with OpenXR + Vulkan.

You need your own copy of X-Wing (Steam "STAR WARS X-Wing Special Edition"). The APK contains no game data.

What works

  • Menus, briefings and cutscenes on a large virtual screen over passthrough
  • Head-tracked stereo 3D space in flight (1998 flight engine, 72 Hz)
  • 3D cockpits for the X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing and B-Wing from X-Wing Revival, with the original instruments and HUD in front of you
  • Touch controllers as a gamepad in flight, remappable in Settings > Controller
  • Laser pointer in menus; clicking the pilot name field opens an on-screen keyboard
  • Hold the right grip to look behind you

PICO

The same APK runs on PICO 4 / 4 Ultra / Neo 3 (untested on real PICO hardware). PICO needs PICO OS 5.9.0 or newer. Controller buttons are the same as on Quest; passthrough behind the menus is Quest-only. If it doesn't start on PICO, please open an issue with the output of adb logcat -s SDL/APP:*.

Install

  1. Install OpenXW-VR-v0.1.2-beta.apk with SideQuest or adb install.

  3. Start OpenXW VR from Unknown Sources and allow "access to all files" when asked.
