Re-Volt (RVGL) for Meta Quest and PICO, standalone.

Changes since v0.1.0

  • PICO support (PICO 4 / 4 Ultra / Neo 3): the same APK now also runs on PICO headsets, with the same button layout. Not tested on PICO hardware yet: reports are very welcome.

About

It uses the official RVGL 23.1030a1 Android engine with a native OpenXR host:

  • menus on a big virtual screen;
  • races in head-tracked stereo 3D at 72 fps, with the HUD on a floating panel;
  • play with the Touch controllers, and new profiles get the controller layout automatically;
  • the RV 25th Anniversary pack (13 tracks, 14 cars) is installed and switched on.

Install

  1. Install RVGL-VR-v0.1.1.apk with SideQuest, or run adb install -r RVGL-VR-v0.1.1.apk. SideQuest is a Quest tool, so on PICO use adb or whichever sideloader you already use.
  2. Start RVGL VR from Library → Unknown Sources (PICO: Library → Unknown).
  3. First start: Allow file access (switch on, then Done), then Download and install.
    • About 225 MB is downloaded once from the official sources: the Re-Volt game files and soundtrack from Re-Volt I/O, and the RV25 pack from Re-Volt World.
    • The game then starts by itself.

Already have RVGL data, for example from the Android version? Copy it to /sdcard/RVGL. Packs that are present are not downloaded again.

Name entry: turn the wheel with the left stick and press A for each letter. To finish, turn to END and press A.

Notes

  • Tested on Meta Quest 3. PICO is untested: if it does not start, or the controllers do nothing, please open an issue; adb logcat -s RVGLQuest:* RVGLQuestSetup:* shows how far it gets.
  • PICO needs PICO OS 5.9.0 or newer.
  • Button names are those of the Meta Quest controllers; PICO controllers use the same layout.
  • Signed with a debug key. If you installed an RVGL VR build from somewhere else, uninstall it first.
  • No game data is included in the APK. Re-Volt is © Acclaim / WeGo Interactive. RVGL is © the RVGL team (rvgl.org); its redistributable engine is CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
  • This port is unofficial, free and non-commercial.
