Wing Commander II VR 1.0.1

Wing Commander II VR is a standalone Meta Quest 3 and PICO port of Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi (1991), built on the wc2-re reconstruction.

Changes since 1.0.0

• PICO support (untested): the same APK now also runs on PICO 4 / Neo 3 (PICO OS 5.9.0 or newer). The PICO controllers use the same button layout as the Touch controllers. PICO support is brand new and not tested on PICO hardware yet; feedback is welcome.
• On Android 10 headsets (PICO) the app asks for storage access on the first start and restarts by itself afterwards.

Features

• Stereo 3D space with head-look: ships at real depth, stars at infinity
• 3D cockpit built from the original cockpit art, with live displays and HUD
• Big floating screen for menus, briefings and cutscenes, with a laser pointer
• VR keyboard for pilot names
• Touch controllers as the flight stick (dead zone and expo curve for precise aiming)
• Settings in /sdcard/WingCommander2/vr.cfg

Install

1. Install WingCommanderIIVR-1.0.1.apk with SideQuest or adb install -r WingCommanderIIVR-1.0.1.apk
2. Game data is not included. You need your own copy of Wing Commander II. Copy WC2.EXE and the GAMEDAT folder (the WING2 folder of the DOS CD-ROM, or your installed game folder) to /sdcard/WingCommander2/
3. Start Wing Commander II VR from Library → Unknown Sources and allow file access

Tested with the 1995 DOS CD-ROM edition (with Special Operations 1 and 2), which plays with AdLib music and synthesized sound effects. Kilrathi Saga data should also work but is untested.

To land: target your carrier or station (A), open comms (left grip + X), choose it and request landing, then fly in at normal speed. The carrier only gives clearance once you've done something in the mission and no Kilrathi are close.
