Leafrune 0.9.5 Beta for Mac

Choose a tag to compare

@Sheldon1999 Sheldon1999 released this 20 Oct 19:01

Leafrune 0.9.5 adds filling in and saving PDF forms, and printing. The Mac DMG is below (Apple silicon, M1 or later); on Windows, 0.9.5 is in the Microsoft Store.

What's new

  • Fill in and save forms: text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons and drop-down lists. File ▸ Save (⌘S) writes the values into the PDF; File ▸ Save a Copy… (⇧⌘S) writes them to a new file. Other PDF apps show the saved values, and password-protected forms stay protected.
  • Print (⌘P, the Print button or File ▸ Print…): Leafrune's own Print window with the options people know from Acrobat (printer or Save as PDF, copies, two-sided, grayscale, page ranges, Poster, Multiple pages per sheet, Booklet) and a preview of every sheet. Pages never print with inverted colors.
  • The assistant reads forms: ask "What did I put as my last name?" or "What's still empty?"; answers link to the field and highlight it. It sees the values you have saved.

Install

  1. Download Leafrune_0.9.5_aarch64.dmg below and open it.
  2. Drag Leafrune onto the Applications folder (replace the older version if asked), then eject the Leafrune disk.
  3. Open Leafrune from Applications.
  4. The beta is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first time macOS does not open it. Click Done, go to System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the Leafrune message, and confirm with your password.

Your recent files, reading positions, conversations and AI models stay as they were.

To check the download: shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Leafrune_0.9.5_aarch64.dmg must match SHA256SUMS.txt.

If you downloaded 0.9.5 before October 22, download it again to get printing.

@Sheldon1999 Sheldon1999 released this 18 Oct 17:57

Leafrune for Mac: a fast, private PDF reader with an AI assistant that runs on your own computer. For Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later).

Install

  1. Download Leafrune_0.9.4_aarch64.dmg below and open it.
  2. Drag Leafrune onto the Applications folder, then eject the Leafrune disk.
  3. Open Leafrune from Applications.
  4. The beta is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first time macOS does not open it. Click Done, go to System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the Leafrune message, and confirm with your password. You only do this once.

On first launch Leafrune downloads its AI models once (about 3.2 GB) in the background; you can read meanwhile.

To check the download: shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Leafrune_0.9.4_aarch64.dmg must match SHA256SUMS.txt.

What's in it

  • A Mac app: toolbar in the title bar, translucent sidebar, your accent and highlight colors, the macOS menu bar, Find as a bar under the toolbar, password prompts as a sheet; the window reopens at its last size and place.
  • The assistant writes answers with Gemma 4 E2B (Google DeepMind) on the Mac's graphics processor; every answer cites its pages. A Report answer button under each answer opens a filled-in report you can check before sending.

Windows: get Leafrune from the Microsoft Store.
