  • Safer mixed-source queues, downloads, offline playback, and streaming cache
  • Refined player, lyrics, collection artwork, Last.fm recommendations/scrobbling, and system playback

Install and feedback

Download Shippy-R16-Beta-1.apk below. It requires Android 7.0 or newer and is test-signed. R16 installs separately from legacy Shippy Alpha/Auxio package identities.

This is beta software. Back up important playlists and report bugs with your device model, Android version, exact reproduction steps, and a redacted screenshot/logcat when possible.

Critical playback identity hotfix.\n\n- Keeps audio, title, artwork, lyrics, and queue highlight on one committed Media3 item.\n- Synchronizes queue order and current index atomically across shuffle changes.\n- Resolves provider look-ahead in actual shuffled playback order.\n- Retains the R15.2 package ID and signing certificate for an in-place update.\n\nValidation: 15 focused playback/queue/provider tests, formatting check, and debug APK assembly passed. Physical device verification is still required.

Shippy Alpha R15.2

True in-place update for R14.

  • restores R14's package identity: org.oxycblt.auxio.debug
  • uses version code 85, above R14's version code 82
  • uses the exact same signing certificate as R14
  • derives package-scoped provider authorities from the active application ID
  • preserves the existing R14 installation and app data

R15 and R15.1 used a different package identity and are superseded.

Shippy Alpha R14

R14 hardens Crew connectivity around a local-first route policy:

  • Adds authenticated Google Nearby Connections for offline, close-proximity Crew sessions.
  • Falls back to QR-scoped LAN discovery, then a configured hosted relay.
  • Reuses the same Crew queue, clock, reactions, and temporary Push & Pull media engines across every route.
  • Requests the correct Bluetooth, location, and Nearby Wi-Fi permissions across Android 7 and newer.
  • Fixes Android 14+ NSD service resolution and keeps LAN/relay attempts available when proximity permission is denied.
  • Improves route-specific failure messages.

Verification: formatting, 458 app JVM tests (457 passed; one opt-in live-network test skipped), 109 Musikr tests, Android lint, assembly, package metadata, and APK Signature Scheme v2.

Physical two-phone Nearby, LAN/hotspot, Push & Pull, and remote-relay behavior still requires device acceptance testing.

@Rtx09x Rtx09x released this 01 Aug 14:59

Last.fm and Crew connectivity hotfix.\n\n- Last.fm authentication now uses bounded JSON parsing and sends an identifiable Shippy user agent.\n- Crew requests Android 16 nearby-network access before hosting or joining.\n- LAN discovery tolerates OEM NSD responses that omit TXT records or append a numeric service-name suffix.\n- LAN discovery timeout increased from 10 to 20 seconds.\n- 448 app tests, 109 Musikr tests, formatting, lint, build, package metadata, and APK Signature Scheme v2 verification pass.\n\nPhysical real-account Last.fm and two-phone Crew testing remains pending.

@Rtx09x Rtx09x released this 01 Aug 14:01

R13.1 fixes full-screen lyrics being hard-clipped across a row at the boundary above the fixed player controls. The lyrics viewport now reserves a clean padded safe area. This hotfix also makes Crew's in-memory direct-peer test deterministic on slower CI runners.\n\nDevice visual confirmation is still requested because this is an alpha build.

R13 refreshes Shippy's launcher branding, cleans up the Library playlist hierarchy with clear pinned states, and fixes stale full-player artwork after queue or track changes. It also adds regression coverage for playback pager identity and hardens asynchronous Crew verification on slower CI runners.\n\nDevice validation is still requested because this is an alpha build.

Shippy Alpha R12 refreshes 71 application icons from the official Lucide source, uses Settings2 for Settings, preserves existing icon state behavior, and adds reproducible icon generation and licensing documentation. CI also now resolves the pinned FFmpeg source through its official GitHub mirror and invokes the native build with Bash. Verified by GitHub build and lint workflows plus local unit, lint, APK, package, and signature checks. SHA-256: C691F10308A93DF6A17AD2E83C45782427AC7996843FC66209975106FDCFDAA8
