A major update incorporating all upstream improvements since 2.8.7 along with extensive custom features for enhanced video player controls, dual-subtitle study workflows, and UI customization.

Custom features (pre-merge, based on 2.8.7)

These features were implemented on top of the original 2.8.7 release, before merging upstream changes:

• Subtitle font customization — configurable subtitle font color, font weight, and outline color in the Subtitle Timing and Appearance dialog
• Pin player bottom bar — toggle to keep the media player bottom bar permanently visible
• Subtitle seek controls — seek forward/backward through subtitles
• Fullscreen mode toggle — toggle for fullscreen playback mode
• Volume and brightness controls — on-screen volume and brightness adjustment with dedicated controls
• EPUB reader night mode — changed font color to yellow in EPUB reader night modes for better readability
• Build fixes — vendored mp3recorder AAR, added JCenter mirror, added screen_brightness dependency

• Secondary subtitle track — select a second subtitle file that displays at the top of the screen alongside the primary subtitle, enabling simultaneous display of native and translation subtitles
• Secondary subtitle appearance — font size, color, weight, outline, blur, and opacity configurable independently from the primary subtitle
• Secondary subtitle persistence — selected secondary subtitle track is remembered per video
• Secondary subtitle timing — updates independently but freezes during auto-pause mode to stay in sync with the primary subtitle
• Dictionary font color — configurable font color for the dictionary popup in the player, affecting both headings and entry content
• Tap outside to dismiss dictionary — tapping outside the dictionary popup closes it while keeping the video paused, allowing further word lookups without resuming playback
• Playback position persistence fix — resuming a video from history now works correctly for short videos (previously, videos under 60 seconds always restarted from the beginning)
• App icon updated to 白 in sumomoji calligraphic style
• App label updated to 白い熊の自動辞書第二版

2.9.5

• UI Text Color — new setting in the hamburger menu to change the color of all text, icons, and UI elements in dark theme (menu items, navigation bar, history titles, app bar, bottom sheet options, player time display)
• Subtitle vertical offset — configurable vertical offset for both primary and secondary subtitles, allowing positioning into the black bars above and below the video
• Fixed subtitle position — primary subtitle no longer jumps when the player bottom bar appears or disappears
• Subtitles freed from video bounds — both subtitle tracks can now extend beyond the 16:9 video area into the screen margins
