Developing Audio Replacer

Here's a guide on what you'll need to contribute to Audio Replacer or build the app from its source code:

Step 1: Download dependencies

πŸͺŸ Windows

Download and install the following:

  1. Visual Studio 2026. Select the "Desktop development with C++" workload
  2. Rustup. You will need Visual Studio installed before installing the rust toolchain
  3. NodeJS
  4. Git for Windows or GitHub desktop
  5. CMake for Windows
  6. LLVM compiler for Windows. You may have to scroll a bit to find a binary for Windows

CMake and LLVM are required because of the whisper-rs crate using them exclusively. The Visual studio versions do not appear to work for me either, but if it works for you, you should probably be using that

🐧 Linux

First, Install the following packages:

Debian-based

sudo apt install build-essential git cmake rustup llvm clang libwebkit2gtk-4.1-dev curl

Arch-based

sudo pacman -S base-devel git cmake rustup llvm clang webkit2gtk-4.1 curl

Next, Install NodeJS with nvm (Commands taken from the official NodeJS website):

# Download and install nvm:
curl -o- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nvm-sh/nvm/v0.40.3/install.sh | bash

# in lieu of restarting the shell
\. "$HOME/.nvm/nvm.sh"

# Download and install NodeJS:
nvm install node

Finally, initialize Rust toolchain:

rustup default stable

πŸ“š Step 2: Clone the repository

git clone https://github.com/lemons-studios/audio-replacer.git

...Or you can clone the repository from GitHub desktop or any other GUI based application

πŸš€ Step 3: Run the app

Very straightforward:

npm run tauri dev
