Token Optimization
- Screenshots save to file —
get_product_shots and get_screenshot return file paths instead of inline base64. Eliminates ~1.8M cumulative tokens per build session.
- Compact capture_design — returns body summary + bounding boxes inline (~1K tokens). Full capture saved to temp file.
- Skill restructure — core skill reduced from 1087 to ~570 lines. Reference material moved to topic files loaded on demand.
- One component per response — prevents long thinking blocks from bundling multiple components.
- Lazy file loading — topic files read only when needed, not pre-loaded at start.
Project Management
- Dedicated project directory — scripts saved to
~/shopprentice-projects/<name>/ with mandatory README.md for each build.
- Project README — documents status, parameters, build notes. Enables resuming across sessions.
- User config —
~/shopprentice-projects/config.json controls screenshot behavior. Default: "none" (most token-efficient).
Build Quality
- Shaded with Visible Edges — set automatically after every script execution.
- Script location safety — never modifies
~/.shopprentice/repo/examples/.
Install Improvements
- Sparse checkout — skips example screenshots (188MB). Install download ~42MB instead of 930MB.
- Config-based skill patching — installer bakes user preferences into the skill file at install time. No runtime config reads.
Measured Build (dovetailed box)
- Context usage: 83K tokens (8% of 1M window)
- Previous version: 161K tokens (with inline screenshots adding 1.8M cumulative)
