I have a lot of lottie animations in my app and was just wondering which is the more performant way to play lottie animations? I already use Skia for other things in my app so was thinking of switching over from
lottie-react-nativefor this too but am concerned about performance. Is one better or worse than the other from a performance point of view? What kind of cornered me was how Skottie requires json stringifying the whole lottie animation:
Skia.Skottie.Make(JSON.stringify(source))to read it. Not sure if this is any worse than what the lottie lib does internally but it did catch my eye. Also the lottie lib has
renderMode="HARDWARE"which apparently enables hardware acceleration. Another downside seems to be that Skottie only supports.jsonfile animations and not.lottiewhich the lottie lib supports..lottiefiles are much smaller (compressed) than json files (even when minified).Anyway, does anyone know how they compare performance wise?
