4. Updater Tab

The Updater Tab is used to update channel information for a YouTube channel listed in ./settings.json, such as video titles and URLs.

Adding a Channel

Close the program, open ./settings.json in a text editor, and add your YouTube channel's name and Channel ID to the list.

  • It is recommended to put the channel with the least amount of videos first in the list, since this will reduce startup time when the program first loads.

Updating Video List

If a channel's video list in the Downloader tab becomes outdated, you can choose the channel in the "Channel" dropdown of the Updater Tab, and click the "Update Video List" button. This will replace the .tsv file with the channel's name in the program's folder with a newly downloaded one.

  • This may take some time, so please be patient as it updates.
  • Information such as which videos have already been downloaded using the Downloader Tab > Download by Channel Tab may be lost when updating video list. To restore this information, use Tools > Check Missing Videos to compare a directory of downloaded videos to the video list. This will allow you to skip videos that have already been downloaded when downloading videos from a channel in bulk.

Updating Dependencies

  • In case YT-DLP becomes out of date, you can click the "Update-YTDLP" button to download the latest available update and replace the yt-dlp.exe file that the program uses. It should then list the current version.
  • In case they are not already properly installed, you can also download the latest FFMPEG and Deno respectively. This is important, since without Deno, validation when downloading from YouTube may fail. And without FFMPEG, you may be unable to download in .MP4 format at the highest available resolution.

Updating at Startup

You can check the "Update at Startup" box to ensure that the latest YT-DLP is always downloaded when you first start up the program. This may save you from future headaches if downloads happen to start failing due to an outdated YT-DLP installation.
