6. Tools
The Tools submenu in the upper-left corner of the program's window lists some obscure options that may be useful in very specific situations.
This option will compare the .tsv for the channel currently selected in the "Downloader" Tab > "Download By Channel" Tab > "Channel" dropdown to a directory containing downloaded videos.
- Videos with a filename matching a title of video in the channel's video list will be marked with a checkmark, informing the program that the video has already been downloaded. This will prevent the program from re-downloading the same video when using the bulk "Download All Videos" option.
- The
Tools > Check Missing Videosoption may be useful if your channel's video list becomes outdated, and you need to download a new one via the Updater Tab. Doing so will replace the.tsvwith a fresh one that lacks any checkmarks. By comparing it to the folder again, checkmarks can be restored for videos that are found. - If videos are misplaced and you may need to download them again, this option can also be useful for keeping track of that.
- Running this option may take some time, especially depending on the number of videos on a channel, so please be patient.
To avoid having to do the lengthy "Check Missing Videos" process described above, you can simply make a copy of the current .tsv before downloading an updated one.
- Choosing this option allows you to select a different .tsv file and carry over the checkmarks with matching video titles to the current one, as an alternative way of informing the program which videos still need to be downloaded.
Use this option to highlight the next video lacking a "downloaded" checkmark in its .tsv file.
- It will check starting with the one currently selected in the
"Downloader" Tab > "Download By Channel" Tab > "Selected Video" dropdown.
Use this option to download the current view count of each video in the currently selected channel's .tsv file.
- Please note that this can take a very long time, as YT-DLP has to download the metadata of every single video in order to retrieve this information.
- After doing this, views will be recorded to the
.tsvfile and will appear in the dropdown of the channel's videos.
Similar to "Load Downloaded Video List," this option allows you to select a different .tsv file to compare it to the current one.
- In addition to updating the checkmark for whether each video is downloaded, it will also try to include the view count and upload date, if available.
- Once this process is complete, this information will be added to the current
.tsvfile.
TSV files are "tab-separated values," essentially meaning they are a spreadsheet where each "cell" is separated by a tab character (\t) and each "row" is separated by a newline (\r\n).
- As such, TSV files can easily be opened as a spreadsheet in programs such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- This can be an excellent way to make use of the data downloaded by this program, allowing you to sort and search videos by title, URL, upload date, view count, and whether you have downloaded them locally.
