Features

(New) Onionskin

  • Added onionskin window, for previewing frames before/after the current one.
  • You can change how many frames appear before/after, and a tint.
  • You can change whether the onionskin frames draw below/above the base frame.

(New) Input Rebinding

  • Go to Settings -> Hotkeys to change program input binds
  • There are also some new hotkeys as well.

(New) Alt Icons

  • You can toggle the look of the targets (root/null icons) to look like a circle.

(New) Show Unused

  • In the timeline, there is a new button to toggle hiding layers/nulls that don't have any frames.

(New) Round

  • In Frame Properties, check "Round" to round (really truncate but "Round" is snappier) all values to the nearest integer.

(New) Fit

  • Added "Fit" next to "Center View" in Animation Preview/Spritesheet Editor.
  • Press it to instantly fit the canvas with the animation/spritesheet, so that it takes up all available space.

Changes to Layers/Nulls

  • "LayerAnimations" and "NullAnimations" are now more distinct from "Layer" and "Null".
  • What this means is that in the timeline you are now managing LayerAnimations/NullAnimations, not them AND Layers/Nulls at the same time (as was the case in the Nicalis editor).
  • There are now dedicated "Layer" and "Null" windows; in those windows you are adding/removing layers/nulls, in Timeline you are managing LayerAnimations/NullAnimations.
  • This means, typically, when you're editing an animation, you don't need ALL layers/nulls at a time, however this remains supported.
  • The "Add" button in Timeline now adds LayerAnimations/NullAnimations. You will choose the type you want and select from the present layers/nulls to use.
  • The "Remove" button will just only delete the LayerAnimations/NullAnimations too.
  • Likewise, this change means added support for .anm2s with out-of-order LayerAnimations/NullAnimations (there's not many from Isaac Rebirth, but they are nonetheless compatible).

Spritesheet Editor

  • You can now move the pivot of an animation with the Move tool. This even works with the "Snap" option too.

Clipboard

  • Clipboard has now been reworked, it will now serialize animations/frames to your clipboard as text, and can be copy/pasted anywhere, even into other instances of the application.

CLI

  • Added --test and --test-gl flags (used with an anm2 argument) to determine if an anm2 will load properly (first flag only tests valid XML, second flag tests spritesheets/textures as well)

No Anm2 Path

  • When clicking on a window with no anm2 loaded, the program will warn you with a popup. Go to "File" and press "New" or "Open" to do so.
  • "New" will likewise require you to save the new anm2 to a path first.

Fixes

  • Fixed the notorious "New Layer -1" bug for realsies this time.
  • Program now works with Wayland (GLEW dependency swapped out with GLAD)
  • Animation preview axes should now draw consistently across graphics drivers (uses shader now)
  • Fixed issue with defaulting values in Generate Animation from Grid crashing the program
  • You can now press delete to delete animation items when focused on the items window (layers/nulls)
  • Fixed issue with animation preview not showing the correct frame based on playhead (again?! was particularly noticeable when playing animations with 2 frames)
  • Fixed issue with textures with irregular channels causing heap corruption when loading into memory from GPU (i.e., for undoing)

Changes

  • Renamed "Targets", etc. to "Icons".
