Greenroom 1.1.0
Greenroom 1.1. Every student's camera shows, End ends the class for everyone, and the participant view is laid out the way Zoom lays out its own controls.
New
- A new participant view. The controls sit at the bottom, drawn like Zoom's: an icon with a short label under it. Waiting students, raised hands and Cues links share the space above them, in that order. The meeting number, the shortcuts and meeting info are in the top bar.
- Every student gets the same size tile, however many are in the class. The person talking is still shown large in the live speaker window.
- The live speaker window shows who is talking, in a name bar under the video.
- Delete a video from YouTube. In Sessions, under a recording's YouTube link. It asks first, because YouTube cannot restore it. The recording on your Mac stays.
Fixed
- A student's camera no longer shows as a blank tile. Some tiles stayed dark even with the student's camera on. They now show the picture within a second or two.
- End ends the class for everyone. It used to leave the meeting and let Zoom make a student the host. The YouTube question now waits until the class has fully closed.
- If a camera stops mid-class, the main camera takes over within a second, instead of the class seeing a frozen picture.
- Admit says "Admitting…" the moment you press it, so you know it worked.
- The queue keeps its place when you scroll, instead of jumping back to the top every second.
- The student panel closes when you click outside it, or click the same student again.
- The live speaker window moves the chat down when it first appears, instead of covering it.
- Settings under a switch that is off are greyed out, so it is clear they do nothing until you turn it on.
- The Screenroom report opens with its sections first again. The feedback cards follow the map, and the PDF keeps them first.
Greenroom 1.0.0
Greenroom 1.0. Same one click to start a class; now it helps during the class too. Cues finds the link while you teach, the camera follows your face, clips save the moment after it happens, and Screenroom turns a student's talk into feedback. The whole story is on the 1.0 page.
Fixed
- Cues ignores a quiet room. With whisper, silence used to turn into "[BLANK_AUDIO]" and sounds like "(birds chirping)" in the transcript, and sometimes into words nobody said, which could make a wrong card. Cues now listens only when someone is talking, and saved transcripts no longer carry those labels.
- Cues hears a whole sentence. "I watched a video about volcanoes" could be split in two and give no card. Sentences are now read whole.
- The right book. "The book called Wonder by R J Palacio" now finds Wonder, with or without the author, instead of another book with "Wonder" in its title.
- Summaries only from what was said. A class with too little speech now says so instead of getting a made-up summary.
- Screenroom counts what really happened. Pauses are measured from the recording, so real pauses are found and Play buttons start where the talking is. Pace is words per minute of talking. "Like" counts as a filler only when it is one, not in "a bit like" or "like Mount St. Helens".
- Video with the notes on it shows the notes. The exported video now carries the presenter's name and each note at its moment.
- Subtitles save as .srt, so video players pick them up.
- Recording a screen or window now says when macOS's Screen Recording permission is missing, and asks for it.
- Sessions no longer starts playing a class with sound when you open it, shows a new presentation without reopening the window, and clears the right side when you switch between Greens and Screens.
- Settings → Cues → Try it keeps its cards after Stop and says it has stopped.
Greenroom 0.9.7
New
- Camera switching follows the better view. With two or more cameras, every camera stays open and the class gets whichever one sees your face most head-on, once it is clearly better for about a second. No black frame between cameras. Looking down at your notes or the floor switches nothing.
- Cut or crossfade. Settings → Webcam → Camera switching → "When it switches" picks a hard cut or a half-second crossfade.
- See a switch coming. A green bar fills along the bottom of your self view while a switch is on its way, naming the camera it is going to. Only you see it. During a class, Settings also shows each camera's angle side by side.
- Main pane width in one click. Settings → Layout has ½, ⅔ and ¾ buttons. You can still drag the divider to any width.
Fixed
- An iPhone camera no longer wakes every time Greenroom opens. Only your first camera opens at Start; the others open once the meeting is live and close when you end the session.
- Long classes no longer freeze or run hot. Recordings now use your Mac's built-in video encoder instead of the processor, which was falling behind on longer classes.
Greenroom 0.9.6
New
- End Session can close the browser window Start opened. With Chrome, Ulaa, Edge or Brave as the main app, turn on Settings → Layout → "Close the window Start opened when the session ends". Only that window closes; your other windows and tabs stay.
Fixed
- Start stays on your desktop. If your browser already had a window full screen on another desktop, Start used to jump there and open the class window on top of it. It now opens on the desktop you pressed Start from.
Greenroom 0.9.5
Fixed
- Cues with whisper keeps listening. With whisper as the speech engine, Cues stopped hearing anything a few seconds into a session. It now follows the whole talk.
New
- Try it keeps everything it heard in a box that scrolls, instead of only the last few sentences, and keeps it after Stop.
- Links from a class have their own tab in Sessions, beside Clips and Transcript, with Open and Copy on each.
Greenroom 0.9.4
Fixed
- Cues finds more of what you name. A name said out loud often isn't how its page is written: "TI 83 calculators" now finds the TI-83 (it used to find nothing, or the TI-89), and names Wikipedia files under another title, like "agentic coding", now find that page. This applies in classes as well as Try it.
Greenroom 0.9.3
New
- Whisper is one button. Wherever Greenroom needs whisper, it shows one line and Set up whisper: it installs the program if it is missing, then downloads the recommended model, with one progress bar. Other models appear once whisper works, one line each.
- Screenroom in the setup guide, and whisper setup on the Cues page, so nothing sends you to another tab.
- The AI agent command can be undone. An edited command shows Revert to default, and switching agent always brings that agent's own command back.
Fixed
- Settings → Webcam lines up and scrolls like the other tabs.
Greenroom 0.9.2
New
- Set up whisper without Terminal. Where Greenroom needs whisper (the setup guide, Settings → Cues, Settings → Screenroom), it now offers Install whisper (through Homebrew, with progress) and Download for the model (465 MB, with progress and Cancel). "Listens with: Whisper" turns on as soon as both are there.
- Screenroom in the setup guide. A new optional page sets up Screenroom's speech and your AI agent on setup day.
- Settings → Screenroom → Add another model has a Download button for each model instead of a command to paste.
Greenroom 0.9.1
Fixed
- Settings → Screenroom no longer crashes Greenroom. Opening that tab could quit the app while it looked for whisper.
- Cues cards arrive sooner. A new sentence no longer waits for the last one's lookup, and books come back in about a second instead of four.
- Cues is called Cues on the class display, not by its old name.
- Screenroom's written feedback agrees with the counts. It no longer praises "no filler words" when fillers were counted, never talks about eye contact (it measures which way the head faces), and the feedback written on this Mac no longer contradicts your own notes.
- The AI agent works without the recording. It reads a copy of the transcript, notes, counts and stills; the video is not in reach.
- A missing agent says so plainly: "Couldn't find Claude Code on this Mac", not an exit code.
- The student's report file leads with the one-line verdict, as the report window does.
- The setup guide's last page only asks you to pick the OBS camera in Zoom if you use the Zoom app.
- Settings → Cues → Try it is described correctly: it runs real lookups for two minutes.
Greenroom 0.9.0
New
- Screenroom. Record a student's talk, type notes as they speak, and get a
report back: pace, filler words, pauses and how much of the time they faced
the room, counted on this Mac. Turn on an AI agent in Settings → Screenroom
(Claude Code, Codex or a command of your own) to have it write the feedback
from the transcript, your notes and a few stills. The video and audio are
not sent. Accurate filler-word counts need whisper-cpp
(brew install whisper-cpp) and a downloaded model. - Cues is here. Turn it on in Settings → Cues (macOS 26). During a class it
listens on this Mac and offers cards for the books, videos, people and places
you mention. Click Open to open one, or send it to the chat. It can now
listen through whisper, too. - Camera switching. Pick two or more cameras in Settings → Webcam and turn
it on. When you turn away from the live camera for two seconds, Greenroom
cuts to the next one. An iPhone works as the second camera. - Sessions has two lists. Classes and presentations sit apart, behind one
toggle. - The new Greenroom mark, in the app icon, the menu bar and the window
header. - Updates are checked four times a day, and never during a class.
Fixed
- Aiming a camera no longer needs OBS running.
- Moving your settings to another Mac carries fourteen settings it had
quietly dropped. - The main window stops jumping when Status opens or Join is picked.
- The header logo is sharp, not pixelated.
