Reader is now a saved-link inbox for ChatGPT.

  • Save a URL in the app or capture the current Chrome tab.
  • Search links and manage read/unread state.
  • MCP exposes search, fetch, and set_read; fetching does not mark a link read.
  • Remove RSS, built-in AI, the article reader, PDF capture, annotations, boards, lists, and memories. Existing stored data is preserved.

The simplified web app is live at https://read.significanthobbies.com/. The direct ChatGPT endpoint is https://read.significanthobbies.com/api/mcp. The owner’s Reader Links plugin is connected in ChatGPT. Live search, fetch, mark-read, and restore-unread checks passed, with both state changes confirmed in the web inbox. Other accounts need their own OAuth connection.

Download the attached extension ZIP, extract it, open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, and use Load unpacked to select the extracted folder. Create an extension key from Reader’s Connections page, then paste it into the popup. Existing unpacked installs can be updated by replacing their folder and clicking Reload.

The extension was built and its ZIP verified. The application quality gate and browser tests passed in CI. This GitHub release does not claim Chrome Web Store publication.
