Ported language files (fr, ca, nl, ja, ru) retained Kiya Rose's personal content and had nav labels mismatched from their section titles, identical title/eyebrow pairs, and inconsistent terminology vs. the EN template.

Nav & terminology fixes

  • fr: nav.about "Moi"→"À propos", nav.skills "Capacités"→"Compétences", nav.contact "Courrier"→"Contact", certifications.eyebrow→"Titres Professionnels", projects.title aligned to nav "Passe-temps"
  • ca: nav.about "Jo"→"Sobre mi", nav.certifications "Llicència"→"Certificacions", nav.projects+projects.title aligned to "Aficions"
  • nl: nav.certifications "Licenties"→"Certificeringen", nav.projects "Spullen"→"Hobbyprojecten", certifications.eyebrow→"Professionele Certificaten"
  • ja: Expanded four truncated nav labels (プロフ, , 趣味のプロジ, お問); about.title→"自己紹介" to distinguish from eyebrow "プロフィール"
  • ru: nav.projects+projects.title→"Хобби-Проекты" with eyebrow="Личные Проекты", certifications.eyebrow→"Профессиональные Сертификаты"

All projects.title values now match nav.projects and are distinct from projects.eyebrow, mirroring the EN pattern ("Hobby Builds" / "Personal Projects").

Personal info → localized placeholders

Three fields in every ported file contained personal content absent from the EN template. Replaced with localized equivalents of the EN placeholders:

Field EN template value
hero.name "Your name"
hero.headline "Your headline — e.g. Frontend engineer…"
about.description "A brief overview of who you are and why you do things."

Example (fr):

"hero": {
  "name": "Votre nom",
  "headline": "Votre accroche — ex. Ingénieur frontend, designer ou créateur de produits"
},
"about": {
  "description": "Un bref aperçu de qui vous êtes et pourquoi vous faites les choses."
}

This section details on the original issue you should resolve

<issue_title>enhancement: Align ported languages and terminology with updated template standards</issue_title>
<issue_description>### What problem are we solving?

The issue is that the newly ported language files haven't been updated to match the terminology, wording improvements, and standardizations introduced in this repository's current template. They retain older or inconsistent phrasing from the source, rather than the fresher, more intentional wording established here. This reduces consistency and may undermine the polished experience intended by the updated template.

Proposed solution

Identify all ported language files that mismatch the repository's updated language/terminology. Review content and revise as needed so text, intent, and terminology match the current template standards. Prepare an audit checklist and propose a PR to align inconsistent elements. Consider documenting future steps to avoid regressions with future ports.

Scope & constraints

Scope includes auditing all newly ported languages, documenting mismatches, and preparing revised files or guidance for contributors. Excludes broader localization improvements not related to ported files or unrelated new feature translation work.

Acceptance criteria

  • All ported language files use consistent, up-to-date terminology per the template
  • Discrepancies cataloged and reviewed for quality
  • PR created or planned with aligned text
  • Review process to confirm compliance

Next steps

  • Add supporting tasks or documentation notes.
  • Schedule follow-up design exploration.</issue_description>

Pull request overview

Updates the non-English translation JSONs under src/translations/ to match the current EN template conventions by normalizing navigation/section terminology and removing ported personal content from placeholder fields.

Changes:

  • Aligns nav.* labels and section title/eyebrow terminology (notably projects and certifications) to mirror the EN template pattern.
  • Replaces ported personal content with localized equivalents of the EN placeholders for hero.name, hero.headline, and about.description.
  • Expands truncated Japanese nav labels for clarity/consistency.
