Error when loading book status: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=260 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (Cocoa error 260.)"

I know this issue was in #600 but there was no actual resolution detailed in it. I'm using the baker framework latest version, using latest version xcode. I can reach the shelf.json via the browser. I do have it on my local webserver, I don't know if that is an issue or not. I have also tried it on my webserver with the same results. The issue downloads correctly but when I try to open my sample issue is when it fails, it is looking for a file called statuses.json. I can't find any reference to that file, if anyone has any information that would be great.

I don't think Baker has any file called statuses.json - though it has a folder called statuses, containing JSON files, and a file called shelf-status.json.

Regardless, that error usually means that those files could not be found, but Baker will automatically create them. Did you just get the error on the first run? Is anything in the App actually broken because of it?

I got the error on first run. Just trying the framework out. It seems like the app doesn't like something about the sample book, because it only happens when trying to view the unpacked book.

I have gone through those steps and received the same error every time. I have cleaned the build and the build folder before every attempt, I am using the latest version of Xcode. I have downloaded the Baker framework linked on the page AND downloaded the MASTER branch. JSONLint identitfes my json as valid. I don't know of there is a problem with the HTML because as I stated before it crashed before when I try to view the book/mag.

Given the log, it seems there's an error with book.json. As you can read:

• Error: param "title" is required but it's missing
• Pages in this book: 0

Also:

• LOAD BOOK WITH PATH: (null)

Can point out to a problem with the downloaded book.

Check book.json and the format of the HPub file (did you zip the files correctly?) at first, and then check again the debug log and see if the problems are still there.

I have had very similar problems to pandabrand and I managed to fix them by recompressing the hpub file. It is crucial to compress the separate files ('Book Cover.html" etc) and NOT THE ENCLOSING FOLDER. (I remember reading this somewhere on the baker site but have forgotten where). However, what really confused me, is that the example hpub file on the baker site is also compressed in the 'wrong' way, and uncompressing it will result in an addtional "/book" in the file path, which will make it impossible for the app to find the required files.

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm running into the same issue.

I've compressed the files inside the directory from the command line and finder and my book.json is valid. Any ideas?

@eknuth your JSON is not valid. You can easily check on http://jsonlint.com/
The specific issue in this case is the trailing comma after the last element of the contents array.

Also, you'll need to point to the HTML pages, it's not enough to point to the enclosing folder. So:
