Releases: Simpler-Systems/simpler-legal
Release list
simpler.legal 0.1.0
The first release of simpler.legal: a Windows app that replaces the identities in a legal document with placeholders, on your own machine. You paste the blanked copy into a frontier model. The original and the key never leave the machine. It runs the frozen v1-legal engine against a local, hash-pinned Gemma 4 E2B.
It is free for anyone to use, change and pass on, commercially or not (Apache-2.0). It is made by Simpler Terminal Value Systems Pte Ltd in Singapore.
Download: simpler.legal_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe, 39,909,063 bytes. Windows x64; it installs for the current user, with no administrator prompt.
SHA-256: 7c79cd9014f4d640f1067e88aaba892977e1f5735546c2ba63013aa49fa8e606. The same hash is in the .sha256 file beside the installer and in README.md. To check your copy, run certutil -hashfile simpler.legal_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe SHA256 and compare. The hash shows that the file is the one published here. It does not show who made it, because the installer is not signed.
It is not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen warns before it runs ("Windows protected your PC"). Choose More info, then Run anyway.
The model is not in the installer. Download gemma-4-E2B_q4_0-it.gguf from the revision-pinned address in README.md, step 1 of "Running the app". The app finds it by its sha256 and refuses any other file.
WebView2: if Microsoft's WebView2 runtime is missing, the installer downloads it from Microsoft.
Tested: installed and run on Windows 11, and only on the machine that built it. A clean Windows profile has not been tested.
Known issue: the window sometimes ignores the first click on its close button. A second click closes it.
Licence: Apache-2.0. The installer's licence page adds the terms Microsoft requires for the three Visual C++ runtime files it carries. The third-party notices are in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md and in the licenses folder of the installed app.
