Slam your pickaxe into a wall mid-fall to slow your descent or lock yourself in place before you hit the ground.

How it works

While falling, right-click with a pickaxe facing a wall to activate the slide. Your pickaxe digs into the surface and friction takes over, bleeding off speed as you scrape down. The harder the block, the more it slows you.

Hold Crouch during a slide on a hard block to lock yourself in place. You'll hang there until your grip gives out or your pickaxe takes too much punishment. When the timer runs out, you slip and there's a cooldown before you can hang again.

Double-tap Crouch release and re-press within about half a second to kick off the wall, whether you're fully locked in place or still mid-slide. Just letting go of Crouch without the double-tap drops you normally.

Higher-tier pickaxes hang longer and drain durability slower. Sliding also deals damage to any players you barrel into at high speed.
