Releases: SirBiggin/PandaReader-releases

v1.7.6

@SirBiggin SirBiggin released this 18 Oct 15:58
  • Fixed dragging the wrong selection handle on short selections in the reader: after long-pressing a short word such as "It" or "Viv", a finger on the end handle shrank the selection instead of extending it. The nearer handle now moves.
  • Highlights in neighbouring paragraphs are no longer merged into one entry; the page-break join only applies to highlights split mid-paragraph.

v1.7.5

  • The Diagnostics entry is gone from the bookshelf's overflow menu, which now holds Reader Settings, App Settings and What's new.

v1.7.4

@SirBiggin SirBiggin released this 18 Oct 02:51
  • Coming back online now picks up where the offline period left off. After an airplane-mode start, Manage data kept saying "No network connection — sync skipped" long after Wi-Fi was back and the shelf stayed on the synced-only subset. The app now restarts the skipped sync and re-scans your servers as soon as the network is usable again, so the message updates and the full library returns within seconds.
  • Works on Wi-Fi networks without internet validation as well.

v1.7.3

@SirBiggin SirBiggin released this 18 Oct 02:29
  • Fixed synced books disappearing when the app is restarted with no network (airplane mode): the shelf showed only the offline banner and a "No network connection" error for the server even though every book was already in its sync folder. The offline check now lists the sync folder once instead of once per book, so the synced library is back within a couple of seconds after an offline start.
  • Books synced under the old hash-style file names are recognised by that check as well.

v1.7.2

@SirBiggin SirBiggin released this 18 Oct 01:45
  • PandaReader now has a website: https://pandareader.io/ carries the documentation, the downloads page and the full changelog. App settings ends with an About section (installed version, buttons for the site, docs and updates).
  • The app's package name changed from io.Coitus.PandaReader to io.pandareader. Android treats that as a different app, so this version installs beside 1.7.1 or older instead of updating it, and nothing is carried over: add your servers again in the new app, let it sync, then uninstall the old PandaReader. From 1.7.2 onward updates install over the top as before.
  • No changes to how books are found, synced or rendered.

v1.7.1

@SirBiggin SirBiggin released this 17 Oct 15:27
  • Hardcover series lookup updated for Hardcover's scoped API keys (created since August 2026): PandaReader needs the read:catalog scope. Previously a key without it silently cached every book as "no series" forever; now only a real not-found is cached and auth/scope/rate-limit/network failures are retried later.
  • Reader Settings > Hardcover API explains the scopes and adds a "Create an API key on Hardcover" button that opens Hardcover's new-key form with the right scopes pre-ticked.
  • Save & test understands scoped keys (catalog-only keys report connected, a missing scope is named, throttling shows how long to wait).
  • Hardcover rate limits are respected app-wide (Retry-After and RateLimit headers pause all Hardcover calls until the reset).
