An unofficial experimental Nintendo Switch community build based on PPSSPP v1.20.4.
Compatibility Notice
- While this build is based on the official PPSSPP v1.20.4 source, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is currently the only game that has been extensively tested and confirmed to work well.
Other games may have compatibility, performance, audio, or graphical issues, as they have not yet been fully tested or optimized. If you encounter any problems, please report them through the GitHub Issues page. Every report helps improve future releases.
Some Bugs FIxed
- PSP games launch and run
- Audio output fixed using 48,000 Hz and a 2048-sample SDL buffer
- Video and cutscene playback using system FFmpeg
- Nintendo Switch software keyboard for text entry
- Clean exit back to the Homebrew Menu
- Ad-hoc multiplayer connectivity
- Multiplayer chat works
- External browser links are safely blocked on Nintendo Switch
Primary testing was performed using Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (MHP3rd).
Installation
Extract the ZIP to the root of the Nintendo Switch SD card.
The installed files should appear as:
SD:/switch/ppsspp/PPSSPP.nro
SD:/switch/ppsspp/assets/
Launch PPSSPP normally through the Homebrew Menu.
Recommended settings
- CPU core: JIT
- Graphics backend: OpenGL ES
- Avoid JIT using IR
- Vulkan is not supported
- NetLoader and nxlink are not recommended
Known issues
- Minor delay or animation skipping may remain in some multiplayer gathering halls.
- JIT using IR may crash.
- Compatibility, performance and multiplayer behaviour may differ between PSP games.
- This is an experimental beta release.
Next build
- For the next build, my primary focus will be on performance improvements, game compatibility, and bug fixes. While Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is currently the only game that has been thoroughly tested and confirmed to work well, I want to improve compatibility across many more PSP titles.
