SkinOS 0.1.5 combines explicit game-platform selection, automatic cleanup of obsolete download staging and a general native macOS launcher.

  • Choose macOS or Windows before downloading. macOS is preselected when available; pauses, retries and updates preserve the selected platform.
  • Completed installations clean older staging directories while preserving unfinished downloads and installed games. Cleanup no longer holds up controls for other downloads.
  • Native games launch from their Steam metadata as app bundles, Mach-O binaries or supported sh/bash scripts. Launch-option IDs, arguments and working directories stay consistent through the runtime.
  • Save paths use Steam Auto-Cloud metadata and platform overrides. Native launch refreshes metadata so a game update can change its executable or save paths without requiring a manual library refresh.
  • Fixed Source 2's misleading “Only one instance” warning caused by a denied temporary lock. Dota 2's native macOS main menu was confirmed through SkinOS without the original Steam GUI.

The release includes a Developer ID signed and notarized DMG, a signed Sparkle appcast and artifact verification metadata. Updates are checked through GitHub; installation asks for confirmation and waits until games and downloads are idle.

Requires Apple Silicon and macOS 15 or later. Windows games require a separately installed compatible CrossOver or CrossOver Preview. NotProton integration is included; external runtime dependencies are downloaded directly from their pinned upstream sources on first use.

Download SkinOS-0.1.5-AppleSilicon.dmg and drag SkinOS into Applications. This is an early release: supported launch formats do not imply compatibility with every Steam game. Steam Cloud synchronization, multiplayer and physical-controller coverage are not established by the native-menu test.
