I'm excited to announce the latest update for the World Version Downgrader! In this release, I’ve completely revamped the user interface and made several important functional improvements. Here’s a summary of what’s new:
- Custom Title Bar
- Frameless, Modern Look
- Replaced the native OS title bar with a custom, frameless title bar for a cleaner, modern appearance.
- Consistent Dark Theme
- The title bar now features a uniform dark blue background (#2C3E50) that matches the rest of the application.
- Custom Icons
- Added minimize and close buttons using modern glyphs from the "Segoe MDL2 Assets" font. These buttons are compact (24×24) and change to a slightly darker blue on hover for a responsive feel.
- Draggable Window
- The custom title bar supports dragging, so you can reposition the window easily.
- Animated Wave Background
- Dynamic Visuals
- Replaced the static gradient with animated moving waves. Using sine functions, I created two overlapping, semi‑transparent waves over a dark blue base, providing a subtle, dynamic background inspired by Discord’s style.
- Enhanced Version Selection and Conversion Controls
- User-Friendly Version Dropdown
- Updated the version selection combo box to display friendly labels (e.g., “Java 1.8”, “Java 1.9”, etc.) while still using the correct internal version strings for conversion. The dropdown now sports a darker background (#1C2A38) to ensure readability.
- Improved File Selection & Conversion
- Added clear buttons for selecting the world folder and starting the downgrade process. The conversion now runs silently (without any command prompt popping up).
- Improved Status Messaging
- Rich Text Status Display
- Switched from a plain QLabel to a read-only QTextBrowser for status messages. This allows:
- Clickable Links: Both the Discord support link and the Java 17 download link are now clickable.
- Easy Text Copying: Users can select and copy text (via Ctrl+C or mouse selection).
- Automatic Word Wrapping: Long messages automatically wrap within the application window.
- Output Verification
- After conversion, the app now checks if the output folder exists and contains files. If not, an error message is displayed with a clickable Discord link for support.
- Footer Information
- Important Notices
- A footer has been added to remind users that Java 17+ is required. It also includes a clickable link (styled in white with an underline) to download Java 17 for Windows.
- Copyright
- The footer displays “Copyright by LiteByte.co” to give proper attribution.
- Bug Fixes & Improvements
- Clickable Links
- Fixed issues where certain links (like the Discord support link) were not clickable.
- General Stability
- Made several minor tweaks and improvements to overall performance and UI consistency.
I’m really pleased with these updates, and I believe they significantly improve both the visual appeal and usability of the application. As always, your feedback is invaluable—feel free to open an issue or drop a comment if you have suggestions or encounter any problems.
Happy downgrading!
