Explanation of shortcut management while driving

I’m posting here because I don't quite get the steering wheel shortcuts. I still haven't fully grasped the MG4 Control instructions; when you go into that menu, it says you can assign any shortcut you want to the buttons, but if a button is already assigned to a default system function, that function takes priority... Okay... but how do you remove the default system settings from a button? For instance, with the "star" buttons, I can only choose from the four system options—there’s no option to leave them unassigned.

Basically use the four system options for single click and then assign a shortcut to the long press.

My setup is left star - driving mode/MG4 Control menu, right star - heater/profile selector. Within profiles I have my custom default profile and a duplicate which has heated seats/steering wheel activated for cold days.

The only quip is the heater UI comes on when I select a profile, but there is no way around that. The car detects a single press AND THEN the long press.
