How do I run this emulator correctly?

I followed the author's steps to enter the command: SPDLOG_LEVEL = debug. / CXLMemSim - t. / microbench/ld - 5 - c I 0, 2-85-100100 - w c d 85.5, 86.5, 87.5, 85.5, 86.5, 87.5, 88 - o "(1, 2,3))". Why does it always give me the output perf_event_open:no such process? How do I run this emulator correctly?

Can you tell me which platform you are running on? Does it support eBPF PEBS and LBR with logging event?

I'm running on a virtual machine where eBPF is available (verified via bpftool as root).
The system lists PEBS-related events (e.g., br_inst_retired.all_branches_pebs), but the actual count remains zero when using perf, suggesting the underlying hardware or hypervisor does not support PEBS passthrough.
So while eBPF is supported, PEBS and LBR are recognized by name but not actually functional for logging events in this environment.
