8.4.26

Re-published 2026-09-28 (twice)

The 8.4.26 tag moved to a newer commit twice today: an image pulled before this date differs from one pulled after. Four image changes (the rest of the list below is demo tooling):

• Boot hooks (/opt/bin/container-entrypoint.d/boot.d/): a child image can run code at every start, after the image's own rendering and before the late hooks. Use them to render configuration into /opt/etc / /opt/sbin and for idempotent migrations. An image without boot.d/ starts exactly as before.
• Late-hook fingerprint covers subdirectories: a step a late hook sources from a directory of its own (myapp.d/) now counts, so changing it re-runs the late hooks.
• Soft throttling for a child image's vhost: a server block opts in with include /opt/etc/nginx/conf.d/throttling-server.conf; and follows the same NGINX_SOFT_THROTTLE_* settings. Nothing changes for a vhost that does not include it.
• What a child image's own vhost and pool must repeat: the settings that reach them on their own, and those to repeat, with a vhost and a pool to start from.

⚠️ Upgrade note

The fingerprint of every image whose late hooks have a subdirectory changes: on a persistent /app/var, the late hooks run once more after the upgrade. They are expected to be re-runnable. On an ephemeral /app/var (emptyDir, tmpfs), they already run at every start, and nothing changes.
