Ball Cactus

Ball Cactus was added in the update 0.3.

Generation

It is found in Deserts and Badlands. It generates in patches and has a default chance per chunk of 1 in 14. A patch can be of one of the 4 color variants: Orange, Pink, Red and Yellow.

Behavior

A fully grown Flowering Ball Cactus drops the Ball Cactus as an item along with the corresponding Ball Cactus Flower item. Both of these can be planted in a flower pot.

Ball Cactus can be placed on blocks in the tag habitat:ball_cactus_plantable_on. By default, it contains Sand, Red Sand, Gravel and Coarse Dirt. It will grow into a Flowering Ball Cactus over time. The respective Ball Cactus Flower item can also be used on it to turn it into a Flowering Ball Cactus. Flowering Ball Cactus can be sheared to remove the item.

Ball Cactus Flowers can be planted on blocks in the tag habitat:ball_cactus_plantable_on. It will first grow into a Growing Ball Cactus, then Ball Cactus, and finally Flowering Ball Cactus. Ball Cactus Flowers can also be placed on blocks in the tag habitat:ball_cactus_plantable_on. By default, it contains Cactus, Dirt, Grass Block, Podzol and Mycelium. When placed on blocks in this tag, Ball Cactus Flowers will not grow into the next stage.

All growth stages of Ball Cactus except Growing Ball Cactus deal 1 damage to living entities on contact. Bone meal and bee pollination can advance growth for all growing stages. Bees can use Ball Cactus Flowers and Flowering Ball Cacti as flowers.

Smelting

Smelting Ball Cactus in a Furnace or cooking it on a Campfire or a Smoker results in Dried Ball Cactus. It can be consumed for 2 hunger and 1 saturation, It can also be used to brew Potions of Prickling.

Prickling

When an entity with Prickling is hurt by a mob, it has a chance (50% at level 1, 75% at level 2 and 100% at level 3 onwards) to deal thorns damage equal to its level to the attacker.

Ball Cactus Flowers can be used to craft Suspicious Stews that give Prickling for 5 seconds.
