XivPiano

Warning

Testing build 1 of 0.1.1. Only players who turned on testing builds receive it; everyone else stays on the stable release.

Important

Nothing in this build has been verified in game yet. It is built and tested without the game; entries under not yet verified in game say exactly that, and move to New once they have been seen working.

In this build, not yet verified in game

  • Copy public song text without stream URLs, account tokens or tracking parameters; receive song changes through XivPiano.SongChanged IPC.
  • Read a versioned audio snapshot aligned to played audio: RMS, peak, onset, three energy bands and a 32-band spectrum. Paused, stopped, stale or unavailable audio reports silence; main-thread reads do not wait on the audio lock.
  • Opt into dialogue volume ducking and selected duty music priority. Automatic pauses fade, track their ownership and respect manual playback changes and loading transitions.
  • Shared station edits now use the adopted station identity consistently; seed requests and song history actions report asynchronous failures without changing the current queue.
  • Pandora in the game: sign in with your Pandora account and play your stations. Play and pause, next song, thumbs up and down (down also skips), tired of it (not for a month), bookmark the song or the artist, and why this song? in Pandora's own words. Songs stream as 128 kbit/s MP3 for every account, decoded in managed code, so it sounds the same under Wine as on Windows; album art and a progress bar show what is playing.
  • Pandora Plus and Premium: a paid account streams 192 kbit/s MP3 (free accounts 128), as Elpis, pianobar and Pithos do. XivPiano tells a paid account by Pandora's own flags (subscriber, or no audio ads), asks for the 192 kbit/s stream through the ordinary client like Elpis, and when that is not offered moves to the Pandora One client like Pithos. Settings has the audio quality (best, or 128 kbit/s to save data) and the client to use (automatic, Android, or Pandora One), and the window shows your plan and the stream's bitrate.
  • New stations from a search (an artist, a song or a genre) or from the song or artist that is playing, and a filter over your station list.
  • Your stations, managed as in pianobar, Pithos and Elpis: right-click a station to rename it, delete it (after asking), put it in or take it out of Shuffle, or open its seeds, thumbs and modes. There you can add variety (another artist or song), remove a seed, take back a thumb, and switch Pandora's station modes (Deep Cuts, Discovery and the like, where your account has them). Shuffle's own menu chooses all its stations at once. A station shared with you becomes your own copy the first time you change it, as pianobar does. Stations can be listed A to Z.
  • History lists the last 20 songs, each with thumbs up and down, tired of it and bookmarks, without skipping what is playing. Up next shows the songs Pandora has queued. Open on Pandora opens a song's page. New station adds Pandora's genre stations to browse.
  • Scrobbling to Last.fm (with your own free API key, connected in the browser once) and to ListenBrainz (your user token), by Last.fm's rule: songs over 30 seconds, after half their length or four minutes. Now-playing is sent too.
  • A toast for each new song, the keyboard's media keys (play/pause, next, stop), and Pandora's explicit content filter in Settings.
  • The song in the server info bar (click opens XivPiano, right-click pauses), /piano play|pause|next|love|ban|tired|stop and /piano station <name> for chat and macros, and IPC for other plugins (XivPiano.NowPlaying, XivPiano.Control).
  • Plays nicely with the game: mutes the game's background music while a song plays and puts it back as it was, pauses during cutscenes and resumes after, and can say each new song in chat. The password can be kept, encrypted for your Windows (or Wine) user, to sign in and resume your last station when the game starts.
