Look something up on the web without leaving what you are reading. Lasso handwriting in a note, or select text in a book or PDF, and the selection becomes a web search you read as plain text on the page you were already on.
Install: download WebLookup-2.21.2.snplg below and open it on the device.
What it does
- Clippings. Keep a passage as a small mark beside your handwriting. Tap it to open the text in place, tap again to fold it away. The mark follows the writing when you move it, even to another page.
- Text, links and screenshots. Paste a passage into the note, hang a link under your handwriting that opens in the device's own browser, or save a picture of what you read.
- Books go to the Digest. A plugin cannot write into a PDF or EPUB, so excerpts go into Supernote's own Digest with the text and a link back to the page.
- Search DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia or Wiby, or type an address. Up to ten one-tap refinements you define yourself.
- No account and no server, apart from the optional Supernote sign-in the Digest needs.
Known limits
- A clipping's words live on the device, not inside the
.note, so it will not open on another Supernote. The firmware discards anything a plugin attaches to a page element. - Opened text can land on handwriting: text boxes and links report their rectangles, strokes do not.
- Text only. A plugin cannot show a web page — Android refuses to create a WebView in the privileged process these run in.
