Highlighting in Reading view.

  • The sentence and the word being spoken are highlighted in Reading view as well as in the editor, and the view scrolls to keep the sentence on screen.
  • Reading view still starts from the top of the note, and footnote text is read there without a highlight.

Desktop only. Needs Obsidian 1.11.4 or later and a Speechify API key from https://platform.speechify.ai/api-keys.

First release.

  • Reads a note aloud in a Speechify voice and highlights the sentence and the word being spoken.
  • Player bar with play and pause, sentence back and forward, speed, and a searchable voice picker with samples.
  • Reads from the top, from the cursor, or a selection. Every action is also a command.
  • Rendered audio is cached on the device, outside the vault, so hearing a passage again is free.

Desktop only for now. Needs Obsidian 1.11.4 or later and a Speechify API key from https://platform.speechify.ai/api-keys. Highlighting works in Live Preview and Source mode. Reading view is read aloud without a highlight.
