Release list
Castlevania Chronicles Recomp 0.3.10
What's new
- Automatic launcher updates: checks for newer normal GitHub releases at startup and downloads them in the background. Drafts and prereleases are ignored.
- Updates install only while the launcher is idle and no game is running. Choose Later to postpone installation for the current session.
- Downloads are checked against their SHA-256 digest and installation manifest. Failed startup restores the previous installation.
- The normal ROM selector stays clean: no permanent update panel or Check for updates button. Notices appear only during an update or after an update error.
- Fixed a controller input race that could interpret a held Start button as another press and immediately leave pause.
Installation
Users on 0.3.9 must download and extract 0.3.10 manually once to get the updater. Future normal releases can then be installed automatically.
Download your platform's archive below and extract it into a new, writable folder. Open Play.exe on Windows, Castlevania Chronicles.app on macOS, or Play on Linux. Select your own USA SLUS-01384 CUE/BIN or CHD. No ROM or game data is included, and no separate .NET installation is required.
Keep the runtime folder beside Play on Windows/Linux. Keep ROMs, saves and packs outside the signed macOS app bundle. Existing saves, settings and control bindings are preserved by the update flow.
Verification and known limitations
- Native updater installation, process locking, failed-start rollback and interrupted-update recovery checks passed on Windows, macOS and Linux.
- Launcher, controls and input snapshot checks passed; package manifests and checksums were verified.
- The reported boss-defeat/orb sound issue remains under investigation. This release does not claim to fix it.
- Full-game compatibility and physical-controller behavior still need broader gameplay testing. Widescreen remains experimental and disabled by default.
This is a normal release, not a prerelease. SHA-256 checksums are included in the assets.
