v1.2: Dark mode that only changes the page

@Spider2742 Spider2742 released this 02 Oct 13:24

What's new

  • Dark and sepia change only the page. The viewer's toolbar, sidebar and background now stay as they are. Before, dark mode inverted the whole viewer and turned the toolbar light grey.
  • New icon, replacing the old grey one.
  • Redesigned popup: position slider with a Reset button, and a short guide to the four buttons.
  • Clearer buttons: the active mode is highlighted, the eye shows a slash when the toolbar is hidden, and sepia has a proper coffee cup icon.
  • Your reading mode survives the toolbar toggle. Hiding or showing the toolbar reloads the page; dark or sepia now stays on in that tab.

Fixed

  • The fullscreen button sat on top of Chrome's "Save to Drive" icon. The default position is now 170 px from the right. If you already set your own position, it is kept.
  • The extension's buttons were almost invisible in dark mode.

Install

  1. Download Chrome-PDF-Tools.zip below and extract it.
  2. Open chrome://extensions (or brave://extensions, edge://extensions).
  3. Turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked and pick the extracted folder.

Updating from v1.1? Replace the old folder with this one and press the reload arrow on the extension's card.

For PDFs saved on your computer, open the extension's Details and turn on Allow access to file URLs.

Notes

  • Tested on Chrome and Brave
