Zangetsu v1.9.3 — Black-Screen Fix, Episode Details & Working Source Filters

📺 A fix for the black video some phones have had since 1.9.0. If playback ran with sound and controls but no picture, and changing source or decoder made no difference, this is for you. mpv's GPU renderer can't run on some older GPUs, and nothing in the app let you avoid it. Settings → Playback → Video renderer now does: pick MediaCodec Embed and the phone's decoder draws straight to the screen, skipping the renderer entirely. Defaults to Auto, so nothing changes unless you need it. (On that renderer Anime4K and subtitle styling are unavailable.)

⏭️ Auto-skip openings and endings. Two new toggles in Settings → Playback. Off by default. Each opening skips once per episode, so seeking back to actually watch it doesn't bounce you out again.

🔎 Aniyomi source filters now work. Setting a source's Sort / Genre / Year filters with an empty search box used to do nothing at all — the selection was saved and ignored. It now browses the source with those filters, keeps loading more as you scroll, and the filter sheet no longer collapses when the keyboard appears.

📝 Richer episode lists. Real episode titles, stills, runtime and ratings pulled from AniZip/TMDB, plus a description on each episode row. Cached to disk and prefetched when you tap, so the detail screen fills in faster.

🔍 Better search. Results are ranked by how well they match what you typed, source rows are ordered best-first, and repeat searches return faster.

📚 Library & trackers.

  • Per-title tracker edit sheet from My List.
  • Optionally add a title to My List automatically when you start playing it.
  • Simkl now shows movies and TV in your library, not just anime, and matches on every available id.
  • Anime that movie sources mislabel now scrobbles correctly.

⚙️ Settings redesign. Grouped, drill-down sections instead of one long page, with a compact header on the deeper screens. History gets its own row. You can edit your display name, and extensions can auto-update.

⏰ Sleep timer. Added a 5-minute option, an on-screen indicator, and it can close the app entirely.

🐛 Fixes.

  • My List no longer breaks completely because of one item it can't read — the rest of your list loads, and cloud sync no longer stops halfway.
  • A minimal number-wheel download sheet as an alternative to the grid.
  • Close-confirmation modes for the player: double-back, confirm, or exit straight away.

This is a pre-release. Turn on Beta updates in Settings to get builds like this early.
