Zangetsu v1.9.4 — Manga, Novels & a Refreshed Home

📖 Manga mode. Zangetsu now reads manga. Install Mihon extensions from the sources screen, then browse, search and read manga right in the app — with its own source picker, per-title tracking, and reading history. Continue Reading picks up the chapter you left off on.

📚 Novel mode. Web novels too, powered by LNReader sources. Install a novel source, browse its catalogue (with endless "See all" scrolling), search, and read — your place is remembered across chapters and devices.

🎨 A refreshed Home. The mode switcher is now cover-art cards drawn from what you've actually been watching and reading, the Continue rows are more compact, and History has its own Anime / Manga / Novel tabs — long-press any row for the details sheet. The video mode is now labelled Streaming, since it covers anime, movies and series.

🔀 Switching modes just works. Flipping to Manga or Novel now lands on a source that belongs to that mode instead of leaving an anime one selected, and Continue Reading only shows the mode you're in.

🐛 Fixes.

  • Some Mihon manga extensions that refused to install now install.
  • A whole class of novel sources (Madara-based) that showed "isn't responding" now load and read correctly.
  • Novel sources show their real name in the header instead of a raw id.
  • TV: the D-pad and OK button keep working after you return from the video player (some TVs wrongly report a screen reader), and the nav drawer opens again.
  • Player: video plays at its real frame rate instead of forcing the panel to 120 Hz.
  • CloudStream sources with their own settings (e.g. CineStream) now show them.
  • A corrupt local database self-heals on launch instead of getting stuck on the splash.
  • Optional HD (1080p) trailers, with a safe fallback.
  • A cleaner signed-out account section in Settings. New app logo, with the classic one still selectable under Appearance.

This is a pre-release. Turn on Beta updates in Settings to get builds like this early.

Which APK do I download?

  • Phone: arm64-v8a (most phones) or armeabi-v7a (older 32-bit phones). Not sure? Use universal.
  • Android TV / Fire TV: tv (works on any TV, 32-bit or 64-bit).
  • universal works on everything but is larger.
