Finding a source is faster, finds more, and you can now tell the app how hard to look.

This is a beta. The Source Priority screen is new, and the TV version of it has not been tried on a TV yet — that is the part worth telling us about.

Faster

  • When nothing has a show, you find out in seconds. Before, the app quietly worked through every source you had installed, one at a time. Now it tries your best few and stops
  • You choose how many. A slider from 3 to 10 in Source Priority. Fewer means you stop waiting sooner; more means a better chance of finding something rare
  • It asks a few sources at the same time instead of waiting for each one in turn

Finds more

  • Slow sources are no longer skipped. Some sources take a few seconds to answer. The app used to give up on them and tell you nothing was there — even though picking that same source by hand played the episode fine. It waits properly now
  • Shows are looked up by both names. Plenty of sources list an anime by its English name, so asking only for the Japanese one came back empty. Both are tried now

Source Priority, rebuilt

  • One list you can actually read. Numbered, with a line showing where the app stops looking
  • Every source tells you why it is there — "played 47 times", or "hasn't worked recently" — so you are not guessing which ones are any good
  • Drag your favourite to the top and it stays. Everything else keeps sorting itself, so you do not have to arrange the whole list
  • The old on/off switches are gone. Dragging a source below the line does the same job. If you had switched sources off before, they are back on

Home

  • The banner fills in straight away. The genres and episode count used to sit blank while the app looked for a source — sometimes for quite a while — even though none of that comes from a source

Android TV

  • Same screen, built for a remote. Arrows instead of dragging, plus and minus instead of the slider
  • It no longer claims no source has a show when only your top few were checked
