Star-Launcher 5.0.2 Stable

Star-Launcher 5.0.2 is a security-transparency maintenance update for the 5.0
native game workflow.

What changed

  • Restricted optional controller-tool installer downloads to approved official
    GitHub release paths and trusted redirect hosts.
  • Added Windows Authenticode trust and expected-publisher verification before a
    downloaded vJoy or HidHide installer can run.
  • Kept unverified or unsupported controller-tool releases manual-only.
  • Rejected unsafe imported vJoy and HidHide command text both during preset import
    and again before elevated controller preparation.
  • Added a public Security & Privacy overview, vulnerability-reporting policy,
    download-verification guide, per-release SPDX SBOM, and security-test summary.
  • Preserved automatic per-game saving, independent controller presets, universal
    Utility Apps and Preferences, Steam launching, multiple keybind viewers, resource
    catalogs, tile reordering, and 4.x/5.0 migration behavior.

Existing user data under %APPDATA%\Star-Launcher is preserved.

Important

The self-updater never silently elevates and never replaces game settings or preferences
under %APPDATA%\Star-Launcher. The website feed and downloadable ZIP must be
published together with the checksum and byte size produced for this release. The
optional controller-tool updater remains separate and rejects installers whose
Windows trust or expected publisher cannot be verified.
