ScanAlign Alpha v0.1 (build alpha-1) — a Windows desktop app that aligns raw 3D scans (OBJ · PLY · STL) to the world XYZ axes and origin, so they drop into Fusion 360 (or any CAD) clean, centered, and square.

Install

  • ScanAlign-Setup-0.1-alpha-1.exe — Windows installer (Start-menu shortcut, optional desktop icon, uninstaller).
  • ScanAlign-0.1-alpha-1-win-x64-portable.zip — portable; unzip and run ScanAlign.App.exe.

Both are self-contained (bundle the .NET 8 runtime — nothing else to install). Windows 10/11, x64.

What's in this build

  • Mesh I/O for OBJ, PLY (ASCII + binary, vertex colors, point clouds), and STL (binary + ASCII).
  • Alignment tools: 3-point plane, best-fit plane, 2-point / 2-hole line, point → origin, center → origin and center-to-center line (clustering-robust circle-fit), 3-2-1 fixturing, PCA auto, drop-to-floor.
  • Targeting: snap-to plane/axis, origin placement, parallel vs on-axis, independent Flip X/Y/Z, secondary-axis picker for 3-2-1.
  • Non-destructive alignment stack with undo/redo/reset/history; export with a provenance header.

Covered by 92 automated tests. This is an early alpha — expect rough edges, especially around picking precision. See KNOWN_ISSUES.md and the full changelog.
