Maramataka - Maori culture

Hi, apologies if this has been raised and I haven't been able to find it, but the maori culture works off a lunar calendar, and each day has a name, with 5 key phases at new moon, waxing, half, full, waning, then just prior to new again. I want to alter my phases within Stellarium to show the correct cultural phases, but I am struggling to find a way to alter the names in a similar way to planets, stars, and constellations. Has anyone done this before, and if so how do you do it?

We developers know nothing about this calendar. The Infostring for the Moon (data displayed when the Moon is selected) includes phase labels like "Full" or "Waxing Gibbous" which can be translated. If that is not enough:

• Are there mathematical rules (precise algorithms) to define your Moon phases?
• Or are these just names for phases as they appear/are observed? Is your "New Moon" the same as a 21st century astronomer's "New Moon", defined as conjunction of Sun and Moon in ecliptical coordinates?

We will likely have to modify the actual code by your calendar rules, not just add translatable names. But these rules must be precise enough to program a computer.
