The images are really good. The textual description (in a separate file, description.en.utf8, see User Guide 7.1.6) could explain the sites much better. It is clear that the images are 360 deg panos, this needs no special mention. But what are the platforms? What makes the site special? Archaeological sites, age/culture? Public, and accessible for stargazing at night? And in another file, you could provide names for the mountains or other interesting points in view, see User Guide 7.1.7. Such descriptions make landscapes more interesting IMHO, but they remain optional. If you don't provide more info, we can still add them hopefully in the next days. |

If you have some more hours to invest, you could even add a lightscape, i.e., illuminated street lamps, windows etc. Again, optional but highly attractive if well made. If you don't have a nocturnal capture aligned with the day scene, it's a tough paintjob in a layered image editor. See User Guide, 7.3.5. |

These look good, but there is a small issue: the pole of the projection has colors highly dependent on azimuth, which is weird by itself, but also looks strange when you look at it: 
Generally, the resolution should be kept isotropic, rather than maximized in the given projection. (BTW, how did you create these panos — did you stitch multiple photos, or did you use a 360° camera that did it for you?) |

Look like stitched from single shots. Well done, but the Puig de sa Morisca has undeniable stitching artifacts on the railing. (These are just unavoidable when not using a dedicated pano head.) However, the view into the landscape is more interesting than the nadir view, which looks bad in many panos. For a nicer nadir, the old_style landscape type can provide a perspective nadir texture that samples better. (But the rest is more ugly to create.) With a meaningful place description, I like them even better now! |
No need in old_style here, the pano just needs to be filtered to provide more isotropically-sampled result. The effective resolution should be proportional to cos(elevation). A low-pass filter according to this profile can yield something like the following. Of course, having all the source data you could resample it in a better quality, I just did some simple filtering. Well, I don't know. I made a custom Wolfram-language script to create the above proof of concept. But maybe the tool the OP used to create the original panoramas can simply be configured to sample the sphere better. I still don't know what that tool is. Does Hugin leave such oversampled poles? |

No. But maybe @cwillisch has just clone-stamped over the nadir area in the equirectangular final image to close a hole or hide feet. I won't bother too much with that, it's just dirt and gravel. |

The panoramas were created by stitching individual photographs, with five exposure levels for each shot. I still have the original high-resolution panorama files as well as the original source photographs available. If the higher-resolution data is useful for improving the projection or filtering, I would be happy to provide them: http://willisch-design.de/eltoro.psd Since the current landscapes already look good in Stellarium, I would prefer not to make major changes to the existing panoramas. |

Wow, the sources appear to be so high-res, 22972×11486 in Though, a gigabyte worth of pixels is indeed something to use on high-end PCs. Maybe the 4k×2k version should indeed be the "default" one. I'll try to improve the quality of projection for the 4k×2k version and make a high-res old_style version as time permits. BTW, are the PSD files also under CC0? I wonder if we could make one of these high-res landscapes available in Stellarium Mobile (which is commercial), where the landscapes are stored as HiPS. Still, what software/workflow did you use for stitching and projecting? I wonder how you got these non-constant-in-azimuth poles, which are still there in the high-res PSD version. |

Hehe, 21600 px along the horizon would be 1 arcminute resolution. That's even more. I had recommended splitting a 20480 wide pano into 10 panels for a huge old_style that could run anywhere. Now, 22528 would be 11 panels. And this is still more... |

I'm a bit stuck with trying to avoid the dark contour along the transparent-opaque interface near the horizon. I see that in your calvia.png the RGB channels are propagated into the transparent areas, so that interpolation between, say, what's under the horizon and what's above it in the sea horizon directions uses the same RGB value as in the opaque part. But it isn't done in the high-res PSD file. How did you achieve this? See how the RGB channels look in your PNG file (here I replaced all alpha values with 255):

Pure guess: When writing the PNG, the compressor did not care about keeping RGB intact when writing transparent pixels. The user will have no influence on this (apart from maybe setting an abstract 'compression level'). |

the alpha mask itself is just a normal Photoshop layer mask. I did not intentionally modify or paint the RGB values in the transparent areas. |

yes, the PSD files are also released under CC0. I would be very happy if you could use and modify the high-resolution data for Stellarium, including Stellarium Mobile. The panoramas were created from individual photographs, with five exposure levels for each camera position. I used PanoramaStudio Pro by tshsoft.com for stitching and then further processed the panoramas in Photoshop. The other two panoramas, El Toro and Puig de sa Morisca, are also available in higher resolution. the high-resolution panorama is preserved inside a Photoshop Smart Object. Regarding the stitching artifact on the railing at Puig de sa Morisca: unfortunately, I was not able to improve it further. Perhaps you have an idea how it could be corrected or reconstructed more cleanly. No, for the stitching issue, if I cared for that, I would now just use the clone stamp to remove the hanging rods and iron out the kinks. It can only be prevented by using a pano tripod head, so that the camera's rotation center does not move. But at some point, I stopped wasting hours into polishing panos which I show 1-2 times only. |

Hello,
I would like to contribute three 360° panoramic landscapes from Mallorca, Spain, to the Stellarium European landscape collection.
All three panoramas were photographed and processed entirely by me, and I hold all rights to the images. I would like to release them under CC0 1.0 so that they can be freely used, modified and redistributed without restrictions.

I have prepared complete Stellarium landscape packages including the panorama,
landscape.ini, thumbnail andreadme.txt.The ZIP files are currently available for download here:
I would be happy for Stellarium to host these files on its own webspace and include them in the European landscape collection.
Could you please let me know if the packages meet the requirements and whether any changes are needed?
