BestShot 0.15.5

@StephenLovino StephenLovino released this 08 Oct 22:16

Upload originals to both Google Drive and GoHighLevel in one batch.

  • Track completed and failed files, current destination, and file-count progress.
  • Find saved meeting transcripts and video captions in a separate Library > Transcripts view.
  • Read, export, or upload timestamped TXT transcripts, including corrected text.
  • Optionally include saved transcripts alongside original media uploads.

Drive transcript documents remain private. GHL transcript links follow its media storage access; TXT files are separate documents, not synchronized player captions. Watch continues to store metadata rather than media. Selecting both providers creates separate Watch entries for media.

Validation: desktop and Watch production builds, 15 project tests, 31 native tests, six cloud suites, and isolated Windows UI smoke passed. Live provider uploads should still be tested with your accounts.

@StephenLovino StephenLovino released this 08 Oct 21:27

Library now includes Upload originals and Download from Watch.

  • Select local originals to upload to Google Drive or GoHighLevel and create Watch pages.
  • Choose Watch visibility and reuse or change the GHL folder.
  • Download Watch-linked media into the local Library without overwriting existing projects.
  • Transfer receipts avoid repeated downloads and let GHL Watch registration recover without uploading again.

Watch remains the viewing channel. New uploads store media with Drive or GHL, not on the Watch server. Saved edits and separate camera tracks are not included in original uploads. This is manual transfer, not automatic background sync. Downloads browse the connected Watch workspace, not all files in Drive.

Validation: production build, 15 project tests, 30 native tests, and isolated Windows transfer smoke tests. Provider calls use existing upload integrations; this release has not been tested with a new live Google/GHL upload.

  • Click transcript text to edit it directly. Click timestamps to play audio.
  • Save changes keeps transcript corrections with your meeting; the original generated cues are retained internally.
  • Captions and Markdown exports use corrected text. Transcribe again asks before replacing existing text.
  • Improved spacing between audio playback, Full transcript and transcript rows.

This does not retrain the speech model or add forced lyrics recognition.

macOS Apple Silicon

  • Signed and notarized Mac DMG, with bundled FFmpeg. Screen/meeting recording requires macOS 15 or newer.
  • Includes editable meeting transcripts, playback layout improvements, and menu-bar capture actions with Command shortcuts.
  • Retains native Mac capture/export, remembered recording preferences, and the floating-controls lifetime/Spaces fix.
  • Automatic updates are delivered through the separate signed Mac GitHub feed.

The system tray now has the requested quick actions:

  • Record meeting — opens meeting audio setup.
  • Record screen — opens screen recording setup.
  • Capture screenshot — starts region selection.
  • Open BestShot.
  • Quit BestShot.

Existing recordings and unsaved meeting notes are preserved. Recording pause/stop controls remain in the floating toolbar.
New capture now includes Record meeting. Shortcut labels appear per action: Ctrl+Shift+4 screenshot, Ctrl+Shift+5 Studio recording, Ctrl+Shift+8 meeting, Ctrl+Shift+9 Instant recording. These are registered global shortcuts while BestShot is running.

@StephenLovino StephenLovino released this 08 Oct 15:54
  • Added Follow playback: captions change with meeting audio, and the full transcript highlights and follows the active segment. Turn following off to browse freely.
  • Reworked system tray action dispatch and made the app action listener persistent. Idle floating-controls requests now explain that a recording is needed.
  • Automatic context-based titles are deferred: the existing local models transcribe speech but do not generate titles.

Validation: 27 native tests, 15 project tests and isolated native smoke coverage. Please retest actual system tray clicks on Windows; automated dispatch tests do not reproduce taskbar input.

macOS Apple Silicon

The Developer ID signed and Apple-notarized Mac build includes the Windows 0.15.1 meeting notes and transcript-following features, adapted for macOS:

  • Audio-only meeting capture with microphone/system audio, pause/resume, microphone switching, local notes and transcription.
  • Menu-bar controls and optional background access.
  • Preserves Mac camera presets, native recording, cursor zooms, adaptive icons, bundled FFmpeg and hardware video exports.
  • Fixes a save-time FFmpeg stall when normalizing audio-first recording segments after input changes.

The separate Mac GitHub updater channel delivers the signed .app.tar.gz; the DMG remains available for manual installation. Apple Silicon only; meeting and screen recording require macOS 15 or newer. Watch and website source changes are included in the branch but were not deployed to their servers.

BestShot 0.15.0

Choose a tag to compare

@StephenLovino StephenLovino released this 08 Oct 15:30

BestShot 0.15.0 adds a Meetings tab for local meeting audio and notes.

  • Record microphone and/or computer audio on Windows, with the existing floating controls for pause, resume, microphone mute and stop.
  • Reuse installed transcription models, or download one from the Meetings tab. Installed models transcribe after stopping; saved audio can also be transcribed later.
  • Import audio, edit titles and notes, play transcript timestamps, search titles/notes and export Markdown.
  • Use the system tray to reopen BestShot or control recordings. Enable close-to-tray in Settings > Basics.
  • Recover retained audio segments after an interrupted meeting.

This first version does not include live transcription, automatic summaries, speaker identification, meeting detection or video calls.

Validation: production build, 27 native tests, 15 project tests and an isolated native UI smoke test passed. Real microphone/loopback and floating controls need testing on a machine with audio hardware.

BestShot 0.14.24

  • Drag the camera overlay directly in the video preview. Its position is saved with the project and used for export.
  • Choose a library folder in Settings > Storage. After saving work and reopening the app, originals and saved edits are copied together and verified.
  • Keep the original library as a backup; folder changes do not automatically reclaim old disk space. Choose a destination without an existing BestShot Library subfolder.
  • Prevent multiple Windows instances from writing to the same application library.

Validation: frontend build and 40 automated tests passed (25 native, 15 project); two optional native integration tests skipped. Physical-camera dragging should be tested on your recording laptop.

macOS Apple Silicon build

BestShot_0.14.24_aarch64.dmg is Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. Drag BestShot to Applications to update.

  • Camera overlays can be dragged in the editor, including Mac portrait/wide/classic/square presets.
  • Settings > Storage can schedule a verified library copy on next launch, preserving the original folder as a backup. Mac profile locking prevents concurrent writers.
  • Preserves adaptive light/dark icons, streamlined Settings, Mac recording controls, camera preview, bundled FFmpeg and VideoToolbox exports.
  • Frontend/release builds, 43 project/native tests, 12 cloud tests and relevant desktop UI checks passed. Native recording/export implementations were unchanged; physical device tests were not repeated.
  • Apple Silicon only; screen/window recording requires macOS 15+. The Mac auto-update feed remains unpublished; install this DMG manually. Watch server changes are included in source but not deployed by this Mac build.

@StephenLovino StephenLovino released this 08 Oct 12:23

BestShot 0.14.23

  • Use the new canonical bestshot logo on the empty Studio dashboard.
  • Show the running app version in Settings, separately from available updates.
  • Enable Connected services in Settings for workspace pairing and Google Drive authorization through Watch.
  • Refresh Drive connection status when returning from the browser. Sign into the same Watch account in the browser before connecting Drive.

Validation: production frontend and Windows release builds passed; 15 project tests passed. Google consent completion needs testing on the signed-in user's machine.

macOS Apple Silicon build

BestShot_0.14.23_aarch64.dmg is Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. Drag BestShot to Applications to install/update.

  • Updated Mac package: cleaner Settings layout and wording, compact Capture permission statuses, and clearer Watch / Google Drive connection status.
  • Native adaptive app icon: black background with a light-green logo in macOS dark appearance; green light appearance retained. Verified in Finder while switching system appearance.
  • Preserves Mac permissions, Command shortcuts, bundled FFmpeg, native microphone/camera recording, floating preview and VideoToolbox exports.
  • Production build, 40 unit tests and Settings/permissions/connection/preview/overlay/updater UI checks passed. Connection flows were tested with mocks; no accounts were linked or media uploaded.
  • Apple Silicon only; screen/window recording requires macOS 15+. The Mac signed auto-update feed is still unpublished; install this DMG manually.

bestshot 0.14.22 - New app logo

Choose a tag to compare

@StephenLovino StephenLovino released this 08 Oct 12:10

BestShot 0.14.22 uses the canonical website/mark.svg logo for the Windows app and installer icons, and the welcome mark. The wordmark remains lowercase bestshot.

The icon regeneration script now uses the canonical SVG instead of drawing the previous mark. This release changes branding assets only; capture behavior is unchanged.

Validation: SVG-derived PNG visually inspected; production frontend build and 15 project tests passed. Native installer packaging verified before publication. No debug cache rebuild was needed for this branding change.

macOS Apple Silicon build

BestShot_0.14.22_aarch64.dmg is Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. Drag BestShot to Applications to install/update.

  • Updated canonical b app icon and welcome branding.
  • Floating camera preview now follows roundness, mirroring and size, with Mac portrait/wide/classic presets preserved.
  • Native microphone input selection and a three-second input meter; input choice is remembered.
  • Retains bundled FFmpeg, VideoToolbox/software exports, native recording controls, permissions, cursor-follow editing and local wallpapers.
  • Real microphone/camera/pause/toggle recording and hardware/software export tests passed, along with 40 unit tests and UI regressions.
  • Apple Silicon only; screen/window recording requires macOS 15+. Mac signed auto-update feed is still unpublished, so install this DMG manually.

BestShot 0.14.21 - Camera styling and microphone checks

Choose a tag to compare

@StephenLovino StephenLovino released this 08 Oct 11:35

The floating camera preview now follows camera roundness, mirror and size settings.

Choose a microphone input in the capture picker and use Test microphone to check three seconds of native audio input. Enable the Microphone checkbox to include that input in recordings. Failed microphone startup now reports an error instead of silently recording without it; additional audio sample formats are supported.

Validation: frontend and native installer builds passed, along with 15 frontend and 24 native tests. Physical camera appearance and microphone behavior require testing on a machine with those devices.
