1.8.3 improves tagged form editing, file selection, crash reporting, translations, and contributor guidance.

Added

  • Added name, size, and last-modified sorting to the file picker, with the selected order remembered between sessions.
  • Added contributor guidance for code, documentation, and translation work.
  • Portable builds now keep settings, signatures, swatches, and OCR models in a KillerPDF-Data folder beside the launcher (#327).

Changed

  • The footer now shows page size with direct view-mode and zoom controls (#301).
  • Image export and Transform now show output pixel dimensions for the selected DPI (#310).
  • First launch now uses a supported Windows display language instead of always starting in English (#322).
  • Crash reports now use KillerPDF's themed dialog chrome and a clearer error summary layout.
  • Grayscale Transform output now stores one color channel instead of three equal RGB channels (#324).
  • Updated interface translations, including fillable-field and page-copy status messages (#227).

Fixed

  • Comparison now keeps both documents rendered when entering from another view mode. Scrolling and zoom stay synchronized, and missing-page notices stay readable at any zoom (#301).
  • Comparison opens with each document fitted to its pane's width. Aligned the comparison bar's rounded corners and added theme grain to missing-page notices (#301).
  • Save Flattened now stores fully black-and-white pages as compact 1-bit images (#323).
  • File-picker names now show complete text in tooltips, and 98SE horizontal scrollbars match the theme.
  • PDFs containing empty unsigned signature values now save and export normally.
  • On the Sepulchre theme the theme picker's radio ring and dot no longer vanish into the row's hover highlight; they turn white with the label.
  • Fillable text fields can now be selected, moved, resized, and deleted without rebuilding the document view (#307).
  • Corrected the annotation-tool shortcut labels and added Fillable Text Field to the shortcut reference (#339).
  • Fillable fields can now be added to tagged PDFs that organize pages as multiple top-level structure elements.
  • Creating and filling a text field no longer visibly rebuilds the document view, and new fields start with a font size suited to their height.
  • The Highlight bar now names its broad deletion mode as the annotation eraser instead of implying that it only erases highlights (#325).
  • Light-theme annotation bars now use an opaque panel with distinct white input fields.
