What's new

Changed

  • Building from source: make install-dev now installs to /Applications and removes an older copy in ~/Applications. On macOS 27, menu bar managers that hide icons can keep an icon visible only for apps in the Applications folder. The app itself is unchanged.

Install

Download MacGauge-v1.7.3.dmg, open it and drag MacGauge to Applications. Keep it there: outside the Applications folder, macOS 27 hides its icons whenever a menu bar manager hides icons. On first launch MacGauge walks you through allowing fan control and opening at login. Already on 1.6.x or 1.7.x? Wait for the update card or open the popover, then press Update.

Requires a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 13 or later.

Verification

Notarized by Apple, stapled, and accepted by Gatekeeper. SHA-256 of the DMG:

Warning: fan control can interfere with macOS thermal management. Use at your own risk and return to automatic control when unsure.
