Release Notes for Version 2.3

This release focused on Disk II image formats.

Highlights

  • Added Disk II DSK/DO/PO read support by converting sector images into nibblized tracks internally.
  • Added Disk II write support for writable NIB-backed and DSK-backed images.
  • Added WOZ read support, including WOZ1/WOZ2 track loading, TMAP handling, bitstream reading, and encoding detection.
  • Added a Disk II Save action in the UI for flushing modified disk images (Save should be automatic on dismount/quit).
  • The renderer now clears the background every frame.

macOS

  • Built for Apple Silicon (arm64).
  • If macOS says the program cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified, run this from the extracted folder:
    chmod +x ./a2m ./asm6502
    xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ./a2m ./asm6502

This release is unsigned and not notarized.

Linux

  • Built and tested on Ubuntu 24.04 x86_64.
  • Requires glibc 2.34 or newer.
  • SDL2, SDL2_image, and SDL2_mixer are statically linked into this build.

Runtime shared-library dependencies:

    libc6
    libncurses6
    libtinfo6
    libform6

On Ubuntu/Debian, if needed:

    sudo apt install libc6 libncurses6 libtinfo6 libform6

If the binaries are not executable:

    chmod +x ./a2m ./asm6502
