Your PC Download Then
Windows 10 / 11 Portalcraft-0.2.0-Windows.zip Unzip it, open Portalcraft.exe. If SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway (the launcher isn't code-signed yet).
Linux Portalcraft-0.2.0-Linux.zip Unzip it, run Portalcraft (chmod +x Portalcraft if it won't start).

Then press Set up Portalcraft. Each zip has a README.txt with the steps. You need to own Portal 2 (Steam) and Minecraft: Java Edition (Microsoft account).

What's in each zip: the launcher, and a files folder with everything setup needs: the Portal 2 plugin, the Minecraft mod, Fabric API, a portable Prism Launcher and the Prism profile. Setup only downloads Minecraft and Java (Prism gets them from Mojang with your own account; they can't be included). Keep the launcher and files together. Updates arrive through the launcher.

Warning

Experimental and still quite broken.

  • Visual artifacts in the Minecraft world, on every build (Windows and Linux): smearing, swirling leaves and stretched edges, especially when going through a portal into the Minecraft world and when looking around in it.
  • Windows is brand new and has been played on one PC only. The launcher's normal way of starting Portal 2 through Steam hasn't been tested on Windows yet.
  • Not every campaign map has been played all the way through.

What's in it

  • The whole Portal 2 campaign as a Minecraft player: Minecraft's hand, hotbar, health, inventory, building and digging inside the test chambers.
  • Portals onto a real Minecraft world: hold G while firing a portal.
  • Windows and Linux. On Windows, the plugin hooks Windows' own Direct3D 9 and links to Minecraft through Windows shared memory.
  • A launcher that does the setup: Prism Launcher with your own Microsoft account, automatic updates, and Continue / New game.

Reporting a bug

Press F8 in game where it happened, then Send a bug report in the launcher, and attach the zip to a new issue.
