Audio Sync Issues (Desync) in Internal Player

Describe the bug

I am experiencing consistent audio synchronization issues when using the internal player. The audio is frequently either ahead of or delayed relative to the video. This behavior is inconsistent across streams; while some play perfectly, a significant number of others exhibit this desync.

Observations

External Player: When using an external player (e.g., Kodi), the audio sync is perfect for all streams.
Limitation: I prefer using the internal player to ensure that watch progress and "scrobbling" are tracked correctly within the Stremio ecosystem.

Versions Tested: The issue persists across multiple versions, including 1.6.12, 1.8.4, 1.9.4, and the latest 1.9.5.

Additional Context
I have attempted to toggle Hardware Acceleration and clear the cache, but the problem remains. Since the external player works fine, this suggests the issue may be related to the internal player's handling of specific audio codecs or container formats.

To Reproduce

1. Open Stremio.
2. Select any movie or show (specifically those using high-bitrate streams).
3. Play the video using the Internal Player.
4. Observe that the audio becomes out of sync (ahead or delayed) within the first few minutes of playback.

Expected behavior

The audio should remain perfectly synchronized with the video throughout the duration of the playback when using the internal player, matching the performance of external players.

Have you tried the below? I have this issue too and this is the closest I can get so far, but it's not perfect like other external players.

• Hardware-accelerated decoding - Enabled.
• Tunneled playback - Enabled.
• Frame rate matching - Frame rate only.

Then select a stream to test it (not a remux with lossless audio for now)

Thank you for these suggestions. I have tested the configuration you provided:

Hardware-accelerated decoding: Enabled
Tunneled playback: Enabled
Frame rate matching: Frame rate only

Observations:

Enabling Tunneled playback specifically seems to offer a noticeable improvement in sync stability. While the issue is definitely "better" than with default settings, it is unfortunately still not 100% resolved. There is still a slight delay compared to the performance of external players, but this is the most stable the internal player has been so far.

I have the same issue, sometimes I just have to back out of the video and replay and it fixes itself. Going to try reverting to 1.8.4 to see if goes away.
