RFQ Generation

steel-rfq compiles approved estimate information into a deterministic, draft-only .xlsx workbook.

Workbook behavior

  • material is grouped by stock family;
  • approved nesting information flows into the nesting table;
  • pricing columns are left for vendor input;
  • the semantic workbook record supports deterministic review;
  • generated workbooks remain drafts until a person reviews and issues them.

Private profile

Set PI_STEEL_CONFIG to an approved local profile or use the documented local .pi-steel/company-profile.json location in the consuming project. Never place a completed profile in the public pi-steel repository.

RFQ generation is not authorization to send a quote request. Vendor selection, commercial terms, live pricing, and external communication remain human decisions.
