steel-takeoff provides member lookup, BOM weight calculation, and canonical
validation helpers.

python3 skills/steel-takeoff/scripts/validate-bom.py path/to/bom.csv --jsonThe validator checks member designations, material grades, duplicate marks, quantities, and unreasonable weights. Stable project and revision identifiers can be supplied when deriving canonical item IDs.
The takeoff skill calculates from supplied quantities, shape properties, and explicit allowances. It does not invent pricing, project quantities, connection design, or missing scope. Drawing and specification gaps must remain visible as findings or assumptions for human review.
The repository contains a transformed AISC-derived shape dataset. Its integrity is checked, but redistribution permission is not currently verified. See Data Provenance before proposing any publication.
