Install

Download groove-folios-0.5.1.zip below, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. The "Source code" archives GitHub adds are the raw repository and will not install.

Requires WordPress 5.9+ and PHP 7.1+.

What's new

• Fonts load from your own site, never from Google. Settings → Fonts has Download Fonts, which saves every theme font into uploads/groove-folios/fonts/. Until then, or if you choose Use System Fonts, folios use the system font stack.
• First-run setup dialog: the first time an administrator opens a Groove screen, a dialog offers to download the theme fonts and sample photos, or to use system fonts and gradient covers instead. Nothing is fetched until you press the button. If you close it without choosing, a Finish setting up panel stays on Overview.
• Gradient covers: a cover without a photo shows a soft gradient in the theme's colours instead of an empty pane.
• Reset tab on Settings puts every setting back to its default, deletes the downloaded fonts and photos, and shows the setup dialog again. You choose whether to keep your folios or delete them too.
• Remove Downloaded Fonts / Photos buttons on Settings → Fonts and Settings → Imagery.
• The block inserter on a folio page only offers the blocks its theme can style. A block from another theme that is already on the page still works, and shows a note in the editor.
• The site's WordPress theme no longer leaks into folios, in the page editor or on the published folio.
• A download button on the Spec and Playbook tabs of Groove → Themes.

Removed

• Installing themes from a .zip. WordPress.org does not let a plugin write PHP outside its own folder. Support for third-party themes is coming later. Themes installed in an earlier version stay on disk but no longer load.
• The "Powered by" and theme-designer credits on folios.

Fixes

• Contributors can no longer publish folios. Their button reads Submit for Review. They also cannot add pages to other people's folios or open folios they may not edit.
• Viewing a folio page no longer writes to the database.
• Groove Magazine now uses the fonts chosen for the folio.
• Renaming a folio page in the classic editor or Quick Edit no longer runs the slug update twice.
• More admin strings can now be translated. The last inline scripts and styles are gone.

What's new

• One theme picker: Change theme in the folio editor opens the same dialog as choosing a theme for a new folio.
• Theme switches ask first: if the new theme would hide blocks or proposal details, a second screen shows what changes before you confirm. Nothing is applied until you press Switch theme, so Cancel really cancels.
• Removing a theme asks on a second screen of its dialog, with a count of the folios that use it.
• Same header actions on every tab: Preview, Save, Publish and Copy link now appear on Setup, Pages and Proposal. Save is greyed out when there is nothing to save.

Fixes

• Copy link on a draft folio copies the preview link until the folio is published.
• Publishing a folio no longer clears its collection tags.
• With reduced motion on, the Add New dialog no longer blocks clicks after it closes.
