Description:
Currently, in Subtitle Edit v5.0.0-beta15, the software only provides options to download mpv and ffmpeg via:
Options > Settings > Video player > Download mpv
Options > Settings > Waveform/spectrogram > Download ffmpeg
There is no dedicated field to manually specify the path for an existing installation of mpv or ffmpeg.
Proposed Change:
I would like to suggest adding a "Path" setting in both the Video player and Waveform/spectrogram sections. This would allow users to:
- Browse and select
mpv.exe and ffmpeg.exe already present on their system.
- Use portable versions or custom builds of these tools without having to re-download them through the app.
Motivation:
Many users already have ffmpeg or mpv installed globally or bundled with other software. Allowing a custom path would improve flexibility, save disk space, and provide better control for power users who prefer specific versions of these engines.
