- Restored syntax highlighting in the unified Markdown renderer by adding
rehype-highlight to the sanitized unified pipeline, producing the same hljs token classes already styled by Scopy's preview/export theme.
- Kept highlighter auto-detection disabled so unlabeled fences, raw HTML examples, paths, shell variables, and prose-like code blocks remain literal instead of being rewritten by language guesses.
- Added language aliases for common user-facing fence labels such as
sh, zsh, js, ts, tsx, md, py, yml, and Objective-C labels.
Tests
- Added JavaScript renderer coverage for highlighted fenced code and explicit plain-text fences.
- Updated corpus expectations for shell code fences and Swift shell assertions for unified highlight-theme availability without reintroducing old
highlight.js runtime scripts.
Verification
- Markdown renderer Node test suite: 24 tests, 0 failures (2026-05-16).
- Focused renderer probe:
swift fence emits hljs language-swift; unlabeled raw HTML and text fences remain unhighlighted (2026-05-16).
