Recommended if you push products to eBay rather than only importing them.

Your own photographs were being duplicated

If you uploaded pictures to a product and then pushed it to eBay, a few minutes later you would find a second copy of every one — named -1-1.jpg beside your -1.jpg, titled from the filename rather than the product, and with no author, because a background task created them rather than a person.

What was happening: after a push, eBay serves your pictures back from its own servers. The plugin did not recognise them as the ones it had just sent, so it downloaded them again and attached them to the product.

Your own pictures are now recognised as yours. If a product already has images and none have ever been imported for it, whatever eBay offers back is a copy of what we sent, and it is left alone.

Products imported from eBay are unaffected and still download their pictures exactly as before — including when you change them on eBay afterwards.

If you would rather eBay's copies won, Overwrite Images in Settings still works and takes precedence.

Duplicates already created

These are not removed automatically. Deleting your pictures is not something to do on your behalf without asking.

They are easy to identify in your Media Library: they have no author, were added a few minutes after a push, and their names end in an extra -1. The originals are the ones with your name against them.
